To invite your friend to play with you, right-click their name and select Remote Player Together
UnderMine 2 has couch co-op??
It sure does! You can play through the entire game with a friend. Your friend can drop in at any time, even in the middle of a boss battle! However, the difficulty will go up so be ready. Just open the pause menu and select Enter Co-op.
What is Steam Remote Play?
Remote Play is a Steam feature that allows you to play couch co-op games like UnderMine 2 over the internet. One player runs the game locally on their PC and Steam will stream video and sound to the other player. The best part is, only the hosting player needs to own UnderMine 2 to play with a friend!
How do I invite my friend to play UnderMine 2?
Simple! Just launch UnderMine 2 as normal and pick a save file. Once loaded, open your Steam friends list, right-click your friend, and select Remote Play Together. This will send them an invite and when they accept it, you will automatically enter co-op mode.
How does input work with Remote Play?
During a Remote Play session, button presses are sent from the remote player to the host player.
Even though both players have a keyboard and mouse, Remote Play treats them as a single keyboard and mouse. So, in order to successfully control 2 characters, one player must have a gamepad connected. This is a hard limitation of Remote Play.
To move controllers around between players, press Shift+Tab to open the Steam Overlay, and choose the Remote Play Together button. To enable a device for a player, simply click on its icon.
In this screenshot, we can see that P1 has keyboard and mouse control (shown in white).
P2 has gamepad control (also shown in white). If P2 wishes to use their keyboard and mouse, P1 will have to click the keyboard and mouse icons next to P2. However, then both P1 and P2 will be using their keyboards to control the same character, so P1 will also need to connect a gamepad.
Once input devices have been correctly assigned to each player, the game will automatically assign those devices to each player character.
Assigning controllers is easy, just click the gray icons to turn them white.
You can manually choose which device you want to use with the Assign Input option.
However, if the auto-assignment isn’t what you want, you can manually assign them too. Select the Assign Input button in the pause menu and follow the prompts.
Each player will be able to remap their buttons as normal via the Options Menu.
How is progress tracked between players?
Since UnderMine 2’s co-op is local, progress is only tracked for the host player. During Remote Play, there is only 1 running instance of the game, so all progress is recorded on that machine.
We both want to play as Black Rabbit. Is this allowed?
Sorry, there is only 1 Black Rabbit! With the exception of the Peasant, each player must play as a different playable character.
